We made it back alive! I have to say that the show in Cincinnati was amazing. I don't know if it could have been any better; and it was worth the two hour drive.
I uploaded some pictures onto my
flickr. The pictures aren't that amazing because I brought my horrid digital camera since the website said no professional camera allowed... turns out that they were in fact allowed.

But good news, coming soon, I won't be the only one posting news on this site. :) Anyway, to the real reason of this post, I've uploaded their new myspace pics to the photo gallery.

The following is an excerpt of an interview Kaki King did with Out.com: Read the full interview
Are you dating anyone? I am single.
I read on the Internet that you were dating both Tegan and Sara. I was involved with the wrong one -- I won't say which one. Maybe, I won't say. Maybe I just did, I don't know.
Well, I wonder why Sara offered to give a quote about working with you. That's all I'm going to say! That doesn't mean anything -- that could mean Tegan hates me because I completely broke her heart and she doesn't want to associate with me. It doesn't, but it's possible. But oh god, their fans are insane. Their fans are going to come and rip me to shreds.

"We're huge Tegan and Sara fans," says Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier, on the line from a Red Deer, Alberta, tour stop. "When their new record [The Con] came out, we loved that every song sounded totally different, but still totally ruled. Listening to records like that and hearing them work so well made us think, 'Hey, we could explore all these ideas that we're really excited about, and hopefully have them all tie together.'" "The perception of Canada when we tour internationally ..." She starts to laugh. "People are like, 'Oh, Canada! You all ride unicorns! And you have a prime minister that gives birth to you!' It's not like you get a hockey-bag of money every day. It's not quite like that. But there is a positivity. And we have intense funding for the arts. You just feel like your government is on your side – I can be mad at them, but I don't fear my government. Whereas in America it feels like people really are afraid of their government."
"It's very 50s right now [in America]," adds Sara. "And there's this return to old-fashioned gender roles. I just read the new Susan Faludi book about how post-9/11 gender roles have shifted, how women should raise the family and men should protect the country and the family. It's a really interesting book." So interesting, in fact, that she has given a copy of it to everyone they work with. "It's strange," she says. "We were raised by a single-parent mom, so we have a very feminist upbringing, but Tegan and I have been very drawn to working with men in business. And yet we have this divide between us, males and females - we don't really understand each other." Read full article

"'Are You Ten Years Ago' is a bit out of the box compared to our usual stuff. There's a thousand parts all happening at once. It's more difficult to play so I'm more focused and I give it more energy. When it's over, I feel like I've accomplished more by playing it." Read full interview

"Yeah, it does seem that we just appeared out of nowhere, doesn't it?" says Sara. "We're just happy being under the radar, I guess. In many ways, probably due to our low self-esteem, we just kept making records and living in our own world, but now The Con's out there we seem to be getting a lot of attention so we'll see how that goes. People seem to like us now and let me tell you, I'm as surprised as anyone by that." Read the full article

Girls, Night in
With Tegan Rain Quin of Tegan and Sara
"I don't have many girl friends. In fact, most of my girl friends are my guy friends' girlfriends, meaning, they only put up with me because their boyfriends are my friends. I went through a very bad stretch of love addiction about a year ago and I had two girl friends who were actually girlfriends (with each other, not me). They would have me over to watch hockey and drink strongbow, and during the commercial breaks they would let me tell them all about the sad, pathetic thoughts I was having about the emotional long distance relationship I was having with a straight girl. We would test out potential subtle, subliminal passive aggressive tests that I was hoping to send once the game started and I had to stop talking. From time to time, and if three hours of this didn't subdue me enough to comfortably allow me to continue home alone, they would let me sleep over. I'd borrow pj's and a toothbrush and they would set me up a bed on the couch and put on Nigella Lawson so I could drift off to sleep imagining myself the bloke of Nigella's dreams ... sad I know.
Nowadays I'm not so sad, and I even have more girl friends. The other night I had a few girls over to make cookies. We drank wine from a box and cooked vegan cookies with walnuts in them. I played them the new radiohead record and they turned it off and put on Britney Spears' Greatest Hits (yes, I own both records). We talked about what color I should paint my walls and whether I should take the discount offered by the place that I bought my couch from, because when it arrived the legs were uneven. Then we had a pillow fight and braided each other's hair. Just kidding. We actually sat around and talked about relationships and whose girlfriend presses the snooze button the most times in the morning and whose girlfriend drinks more. Usually around that time everyone else is still having a really amazing night, but I get tired and am too shy to ask anyone to leave. So instead, I go upstairs and put on my pj's, then come back downstairs, open the front door and lay face down in the living room in front of everyone: another Girls Night In-over."

"I'm hoping this music thing works out and if it doesn't work out, I'm going to be making babies and strawberries in my near future." haha :)
Also, I messaged Macbeth about the shoes and they said they're coming out on February 15th. But now I've read around on both .ca and the livejournal community that the shoes on the ad aren't the Tegan and Sara shoes, but rather shoes that they're just promoting for Macbeth. So I'm not sure... we'll just have to wait and see I guess? Either way, I'm buying those high tops... love em!

Jan 24 (10:12 PM) - Interview: Out In Perth
Posted by Ashley
Tegan answers 4 questions for Out In Perth News.
"When you’re straight, you don’t have to walk around with pointy boots and tight pants and a Prada purse. You don’t have to embody all the Laguna Beach characteristics of hetero culture to be straight, you just get to be straight. I’m just gay. I don’t have to have a shaved head and a fucking armband tattoo and sit and listen to Ani DiFranco to be gay. I am all those things whether or not I’m representing them physically… I’m absolutely excited about leading another generation into the frays of pushing mainstream culture into accepting gay music and gay artists and recognizing that we are equal and the same."
